The beauty of sketching on location

A moody sky from a sketch done on the beach in Galveston a few years ago, looking over the dunes.

One of the great things about sketching on location is that when you look at your sketches, they take you right back to the memory of the time and place they were created. I can feel this day - the sounds of the waves and the seagulls, the smell of the salty air, the warm sunshine on a cool, breezy, spring day. A little slice of heaven.
